Colin Woolway started drumming aged 11 and was playing in a professional dance band at 15 years old. He toured with the rock show Godspell and then The Rocky Horror Show (both original West End productions) in the late 1970s, followed by a period of more pit work, sessions and freelancing in the early 1980s, in 1985.

He joined rock'n'roll glam queen Suzi Quatro's band, and toured the world as Suzi's drummer for 8 years. During this time, and when not on the road, Colin played as much jazz as rock, as the resident drummer in a trio backing touring jazz artists.

The 1990s saw Colin retire from touring and publish the much acclaimed Drumsense Volume 1 and Drumsense Volume 2. He set up the Drumsense Teaching Project which has an ever growing network of teachers using the Drumsense Programme. Colin now divides his time between clinics, masterclass lectures, percussion workshops, and private teaching. He also writes the popular Teasers column for Rhythm magazine.
